Double-Stacked Cabinets and a Built-In Pantry for a Classic DC Home
Kitchen & Bath Masters refreshed this Washington, DC kitchen while keeping the home’s traditional character. We installed natural wood shaker TA Cabinetry, double-stacked upper cabinets, a custom built-in pantry and Calacatta Vivaldi countertops from MSI.
The starting point
The kitchen was outdated and inefficient, but the homeowners loved their distinctive blue and green checkered floor and wanted to keep it.
Our solution
- Double-stacked cabinetry: Stacked uppers add storage and draw the eye upward for a more elegant look.
- Built-in pantry: A full-height pantry wall maximizes organization in the same footprint.
- Calacatta Vivaldi countertops: Soft blue veining ties the countertops to the original floor.
- Natural wood shaker cabinets: Full-overlay TA cabinets add warmth and suit the traditional home.
- Subway backsplash and lighting: A classic subway tile backsplash and under-cabinet lighting brighten the work areas.

The kitchen is thoughtfully updated and highly functional, a seamless blend of old and new that respects the home’s original charm.
